About Brian
Brian Papp is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment in FTI Consulting; he is based in Washington, D.C. and is a member of the Government Affairs practice.
Mr. Papp brings more than a decade of experience on Capitol Hill to FTI Consulting, most recently serving as Staff Director on the Senate Finance Committee’s Subcommittee on International Trade, Customs & Global Competitiveness. Mr. Papp’s tenure in the Senate also included serving as a Senior Policy Advisor and Professional Staff Member on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and as a Senior Policy Advisor in Senator Thomas R. Carper’s (D-DE) personal office.
Mr. Papp was responsible for all trade and customs-related issues before the Senate Finance Committee and developed and executed a trade agenda on behalf of Senator Carper as Chairman of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Trade.
Mr. Papp also served as the Senator’s Senior Policy Advisor for labor and agriculture issues during the Covid-19 pandemic and during the Senate’s consideration of the 2018 Farm Bill. Mr. Papp successfully drafted and advanced twelve pieces of legislation into law during his tenure in the Senate. He has cultivated trusted relationships with the Biden Administration and senior staff in both the House and Senate.
Mr. Papp has extensive exposure to trade, manufacturing, supply chain, labor, procurement, regulatory reform, and agriculture issues and has broad committee experience, including Congressional investigations experience. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in Political Science with minors in History and Philosophy.
