About David
David Eastwood is a Senior Advisor at FTI Consulting. David has 40 years of experience of accounting and consulting, mostly as a forensic accountant involved in accounting investigations and quantification of damages.
David's areas of expertise include software and technology licensing and IT disputes. He has given evidence in litigation and arbitration more than 40 times and given oral evidence on 10 occasions, mainly on damages. He has been appointed as expert to determine disputes and by an arbitral tribunal to conduct an audit ordered by the tribunal. He was the Claimant’s quantum expert in CISGIL v IBM in relation to an unsuccessful IT implementation and delivery programme, recently successfully appealed in the Court of Appeal, and has worked and is working on a number of other similar matters in litigation and arbitration.
David advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious matters, particularly where measurement of usage and compliance with contract terms is complex and hard to establish. Much of his work involves close working with in-house legal teams and their external advisers to avoid or manage disputes. David works for both rights owners and rights users.
David holds a MA from Cambridge University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a Founding Member of The Expert Witness Institute.
