About Esther
Esther Mayr is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in London. She specialises in the analysis of complex or illiquid assets and contracts with a focus in the Energy and Financial Services sectors. Esther applies her skills to a wide range of consulting engagements, including expert witness services in litigation or arbitration, strategic reviews, transaction & restructuring support and independent valuation or model reviews.
In Esther's career, she has valued, risk managed and modelled many financial and non-financial assets, such as Financial Securities (e.g. derivatives, structured products, loans and other illiquid debt); Commercial Contracts (e.g. energy supply and import contracts); and Physical Assets (e.g. power plants, gas storage).
Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2015, Esther worked at KPMG and Grant Thornton, where she covered valuation, modelling and risk management topics across asset classes in both advisory and contentious capacities. She started her career at one of Europe’s largest utilities, RWE, where she held quantitative structuring and modelling roles and worked across Trading, Generation and Retail.
In 2014, Esther was nominated to sit on an expert modelling panel set up by the UK government’s Department of Energy & Climate Change. The panel was supporting and overseeing the development of a market model now used for risk management and planning of the renewable energy subsidy scheme, the Contracts for Differences.
Esther is an Applied Mathematician and Financial Economist by training, having completed two post-graduate degrees with distinction. In addition, she also holds the Certificate of Quantitative Finance (CQF) qualification.
