About James
James Wolf is a leader in FTI Consulting's Office of the CFO Solutions practice with over 20 years of experience advising corporate clients, private equity and venture capital firms in finance performance improvement and transaction advisory matters. His industry experience includes retail, distribution, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences.
Mr. Wolf has served as CFO and VP of Finance of several companies, leading the daily operations of the accounting, FP&A and treasury functions including the implementation of policies and procedures and hiring and training of personnel. Mr. Wolf’s expertise includes interim management, carve-out and IPO transactions, strategic planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, as well as the execution of financial and operational performance improvement plans.
Mr. Wolf has substantial CFO advisory experience leading finance and accounting teams of large, publicly traded companies through carve-out and IPO transactions and standing up the finance functions of companies by improving organizational efficiency, management reporting and business planning. He also has experience in creating dashboard analytics related to key business drivers, including rate volume analysis, asset utilization and operational KPIs, working alongside operational personnel through the strategic planning process to improve pricing, margins and go-to-market strategies. He’s identified improvements in core operational processes and developed action plans to stand up a finance organization improving resource allocation, financial processes and systems.
Additional experience includes preparing fully integrated budget plans, financial forecasts, as well as weekly treasury cash forecasts for complex, multi divisional businesses. Mr. Wolf also has experience in preparing financial and operational assessments, developing roadmaps and identified opportunities to quickly improve sustained profitability, and identifying and capturing annualized, recurring margin enhancement related to the execution of initiatives including sales force optimization and pricing improvement, as well as procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and logistics cost optimization.
Mr. Wolf also has experience in preparing financial and operational assessments, developed roadmaps and identified opportunities to quickly improve sustained profitability, and identifying and capturing annualized, recurring margin enhancement related to the execution of initiatives including sales force optimization and pricing improvement, as well as procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and logistics cost optimization.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Wolf worked in the Global Corporate and Investment Banking divisions at Morgan Stanley and Bank of America. He partnered closely with finance and operations executives, depository agencies, auditors and regulators streamlining efficiencies in global trading platforms. He also developed internal controls to assess, quantify and mitigate market, credit and operational risks. In addition, Mr. Wolf contracted with senior management at a large pharmaceutical firm, as well as a scientific supplies manufacturer, developing corporate strategy and assisting with related acquisitions and divestitures.
Mr. Wolf holds a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Management Information systems from Villanova University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Investment Management from The University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
