Javier Alvarez

Javier Alvarez specializes in value creation strategies, ROIC optimization, due diligence and financial advisory for telecom players and digital media corporations in developed as well as emerging markets. He has close to 15 years of management consulting and corporate finance experience in the Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT) industry advising C-level executives and board level clients including leading telecom operators, digital players and media companies in Latam, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Mr. Alvarez's work includes advising CEOs of incumbent operators pursuing to overcome all challenges related to increased competition in order to protect value, and devising value creation strategies for telecom and media conglomerates in mature as well as emerging markets.

Mr. Alvarez helped start Delta Partners’ head office (now part of FTI Delta, the strategy consulting practice of FTI Consulting) in Dubai and subsequently opened their office in Barcelona to cover North Africa and Eastern Europe and led the initial business development efforts in the Americas. He represents the company as a board member in different investee companies. Mr. Alvarez has executed the due diligence for a $3.6 billion acquisition in Africa, advised a South European telecom operator in a $2.5 billion syndicated loan debt, served as the strategy and financial advisor in a $3.1 billion IPO in the largest Middle East market and advised on BP valuation, led bid book preparation and supported bidding process on several telecom license grants in the Middle East and Africa.

Before co-founding Delta Partners, Mr. Alvarez was Senior Principal at Oliver Wyman (then DiamondCluster) in Madrid and a member of the founding management team of their operations in Dubai. Earlier in his career he also worked for Accenture, the Monitor Group (now part of Deloitte) and Santander Bank. Mr. Alvarez speaks fluent English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Portuguese.
