Matt Gimlett specializes in the pre-sign, sign-to-close and post-close phases of the merger integration and carve-out lifecycle. Mr. Gimlett has experience in leading company initiatives, transactions and business transformation efforts. His industry experience spans across technology and media, financial services, healthcare, power and renewables, consumer retail and other industrial sectors.
Mr. Gimlett has extensive experience leading engagements with cross-functional teams throughout all points of the deal lifecycle. Mr. Gimlett and his teams serve as the key partner to buyers, sellers, external counsel and financial advisers to align and execute toward transactional and operational objectives of the deal.
Regarding his carve-outs experience, Mr. Gimlett has led multiple, global carve-outs across a variety of industries from pre-sign diligence through post-close TSA exit for both financial and strategic acquirers. Mr. Gimlett and his team partner with management, buyers and sellers to determine the target operating model for the new company (“NewCo”), develop tactical project plans, cost estimates and timelines to execute upon in order to ensure timely stand up or integration of NewCo. With responsibility across all departments of the enterprise, including core shared service functions (IT, HR, F&A, etc.), Mr. Gimlett brings a set multi-disciplinary skills and resources to lead complex carve-outs to successful outcomes for all parties.
Mr. Gimlett’s merger integration experience includes leading cross-functional synergy workstreams, integration planning, organizational re-design and strategic sourcing initiatives. He also has led individual functional workstream integration planning, including target operating model design, milestone and task plan development in addition to leading a strategic assessments of shared services and enterprise resource planning (“ERP”) selection, configuration and integration.
In addition to his M&A capabilities, Mr. Gimlett has led multiple business transformation initiatives. These include (but are not limited to) comprehensive finance function assessments, cost take-out and organization re-design to drive EBTIDA expansion and improve cash flow for his clients. Mr. Gimlett works closely with private equity sponsors, C-Suite leadership teams, M&A counsel, investment bankers and mission critical vendors and service providers throughout his engagements to drive transparency, insights and world-class execution across all parties and levels of the transaction.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Gimlett was part of GE’s premier financial leadership programs, where he was an Audit Manager on the Corporate Audit Staff and a member of the Financial Management Program serving in roles across GE Capital, GE Healthcare, GE Power and GE Corporate.
