Maya Doneva

Maya is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in Brussels. She advises clients in the areas of energy, natural resources and sustainability. She is part of the Strategic Communications segment of the company and has an extensive experience in conducting public affairs and communications campaigns for multi-national companies, trade associations and NGOs. She specialises in EU legislative and regulatory campaigns, pan-European advocacy, strategy development and reputation management.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Maya spent over eight years at the Brussels based global public affairs agency Teneo, where she was counselling senior-level clients from the energy and extractive industries, FMCG, chemical and digital sectors on climate change, energy and broader sustainability topics. Some of her past clients include Starbucks Coffee Company, Dow, Ørsted, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft as well as Antwerp World Diamond Centre and Diamond Producers Association among others.

Before joining Teneo, Maya worked with the Royal Dutch Shell, in their EU Liaison Office in Brussels. She supported the team in charge of EU policies on Energy, Environment and Climate Change. Previously to that, Maya worked for the trade department of the Belgian embassy in Bulgaria and the Representation of Bulgaria to the United Nations in Geneva.

Maya is a Bulgarian national, she studied Political Science in the New Bulgarian University in Sofia and has a master’s degree in European Politics from the Free University of Brussels. She has also completed an executive leadership Program at the University of California Berkeley and a global leadership programme at Teneo. Maya speaks Bulgarian, English, Italian and French.
