Q: What is the most rewarding thing to you about working at FTI Consulting?
A: “The most rewarding aspect of working at FTI Consulting for me is the ability to have impact in a number of areas: my clients, my segment and practice and my colleagues. FTI Consulting’s platform allows me to make an impact on a variety of clients, including world-class and global companies. Our practice area in Health Solutions has multiple clients in the Fortune top 10, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on and lead critical engagements. Additionally, FTI Consulting allows and encourages me to help shape my practice area and help define our firm’s culture through seeking new engagements, developing junior professionals, enhancing diversity and inclusion and giving back to my community. I would not feel fulfilled and rewarded in my career and personal goals without the opportunities that FTI Consulting has provided me with to have impact.”

Q: How do you feel you have grown as a professional at FTI Consulting?
A: “FTI Consulting has provided me with tremendous growth opportunities over the past 10 years. I started here as a Consultant in our Strategic Communications business. During my first five years, I developed my core competencies working for clients across various industries as they faced critical communications events, including IPOs, M&A, proxy battles and management transitions. During my last five years, I have grown in different ways. After the birth of my son, I received the opportunity to move from a client-facing role to head of FTI Consulting’s investor relations, public relations and internal communications programs. A few years later, I was promoted to Managing Director the same year I welcomed my daughter into the world. With the support of management, I’ve been able to develop a team of high-performing professionals, which has allowed me to grow as a coach, advocating for and working one on one with my team members to guide them as they set their own career goals, define what gives them purpose and continuously question the status quo.”

Q: After being with FTI Consulting for over 30 years, can you talk about your experience?
A: “Over 30 years, I have developed strong bonds of friendship with my colleagues in the practice, people I respect and enjoy collaborating with. FTI Consulting has always been fair to me. I’ve always felt that this company takes care of its people.”

Q: What is your favorite part about working at FTI Consulting?
A: “FTI Consulting is a place where one can learn and grow as a professional, developing a wide range of skills and expertise. It’s probably the main reason I am now in my tenth year here. The other reason is the groundbreaking projects we do when we come together as one team. In recent years, my team in our Economic Consulting segment has worked on projects with colleagues from our Technology and Forensic & Litigation Consulting segments and pitched for work together with colleagues from our Strategic Communications and Corporate Finance & Restructuring segments. These have been great opportunities to leverage our expertise across our global platform.”

Q: What brought you to FTI Consulting?
A: “I joined FTI Consulting with the hope to work closely with senior leaders and gain experience in dispute advisory while gaining expertise in several industries and enhancing my data analytics skills. Since joining, I have found that FTI Consulting provides a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and allows for internal success.”

Q: Technology has certainly evolved over the last 20 years. How would you describe the impact that changing technology has had on your role serving IT needs of professionals globally?
A: “FTI Consulting has become a very mobile company thanks to technology. When I started 20 years ago, no one had a mobile device, we did not have Wi-Fi networks and the computers were basically attached to the desks. I remember the first time I bought a wireless router for the New York office, there was a sudden increase in productivity — people were able to work in the conference rooms and access the internet. Now, 20 years later, we are a completely mobile company. We can work from anywhere.”

Q: Can you describe the connections you’ve made in your professional network through FTI Consulting?
A: “The professional connections I have made since joining FTI Consulting are unparalleled. I have had the opportunity to travel around the world and meet professionals working on interesting projects I did not know existed. It is highly encouraged at FTI Consulting to establish rapport with colleagues outside your specific group to broaden your professional network, and, as a result, these connections have helped me build relationships with professionals outside the firm at some of the world’s largest corporations and law firms. As a business professional, I am a firm believer in establishing as many meaningful connections as possible. FTI Consulting has far exceeded my expectations in terms of the level and quantity of professionals I’ve been able to meet.”

Q: Can you tell us about a project/engagement that was rewarding and why?
A: “We pitched for a project where the client was based in the United States and required a buyer’s due diligence for a Brazil-based business in an agribusiness supply chain. The pitch involved FTI Consulting team members from the United States, Brazil and Australia. We successfully won the job, and the work performed was a great demonstration of cross-segment, cross-regional collaboration.”

Managing Director, ShanghaiTechnology expert
Q: How does FTI Consulting enable you to collaborate with other professionals?
A: “FTI Consulting offers the necessary platforms and communication channels that allow me to collaborate with experts across the globe in each of our business segments. I have often discussed, exchanged knowledge and worked on cross-border engagements with professionals in other geographic regions (i.e., the United States and Europe) or in other fields of expertise (i.e., strategic communications, forensic accounting investigations and corporate finance). I have truly experienced the real spirit of “One FTI Consulting” across the globe right from our Shanghai office.”
