Pablo López-Alvarez

Pablo López-Alvarez is a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. He heads the EU Competition, Trade and International Litigation practice and is based in Brussels.

Pablo specializes in European Union (EU) policy and public affairs advice. For the last 20 years, he has helped numerous multinationals, trade associations, governments and non-government organizations seize business opportunities and address threats arising from regulatory, political and litigation developments.

His expertise covers all aspects of EU policies and processes, with a special focus on internal markets, trade, antitrust, M&A, security and corporate social responsibility. He also has a strong track record in leading international advocacy and communications campaigns around trade/WTO disputes and high-profile international arbitration cases before the World Bank, UNCITRAL and the International Court of Justice.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2005, Pablo was an in-house corporate lawyer in Spain, headed the EU office of one of the leading Spanish foundations and co-founded and managed a Brussels-based public affairs consultancy. He is currently President of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg and between 2003 and 2020 he was a member of the European Economic and Social Committee, the EU's main consultative body.

Pablo holds a B.A. Hons Law from the University of Oviedo (Spain), an M.A. in EU Law and Policy from the University of Leeds (UK) and postgraduate studies from the Free University of Brussels (Belgium).
