About Robert
Robert Southern has extensive experience in the provision of public policy, economic, financial, and related advisory services in Australia, Asia, and the Pacific region.
Robert’s skills and expertise include: industry and market reform, regulatory and economic advice, business strategy, pricing, costing and access advice, competition and trade practices, funding analysis, business cases, program evaluation, market analysis, business economics, economic impact studies and disputes, litigation and arbitration. His clients include governments, regulatory agencies and leading companies in a number of sectors including energy, water, transport, financial services, real estate and property, communications, and health.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Robert was the Managing Director of NERA Economic Consulting in Australia. He was also national leader of the Deloitte Access Economics and Infrastructure Advisory practice in Australia and a lead partner in the Deloitte Economics practice globally. Robert’s other experience includes roles as the national leader of the PricewaterhouseCoopers economics business, Project Manager of the Gas Reform Task Force and Director of the National Competition Council. He has also spent several years in various positions in the Commonwealth Government including the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
