About Tensie
Tensie Axton specializes in developing and executing successful operational and financial strategies for businesses in various stages of their business cycle. Ms. Axton has more than 25 years of experience. Her industry experience includes healthcare, financial institutions, technology, business services, manufacturing and distribution. With deep operational and financial expertise, Ms. Axton works closely with organizations to assess their financial and operating plans and implement practical, actionable solutions to maximize stakeholder value.
Ms. Axton’s operational experience was earned through serving in numerous executive management positions throughout her career. Most recently, she was the Chief Financial Officer of Neighbors Health, a 34-location, multi-state, free-standing emergency room company. In her role, she guided the organization through a restructuring, including implementing significant cost-savings initiatives, downsizing the organization’s operating facilities and employees, preparing cash flow forecasts, executing a successful 363 sale of the asset portfolio to multiple buyers, carving out the sold assets with a transition services agreement and preparing and filing for Chapter 11. She also led the implementation of new revenue cycle and accounting systems, renegotiated the credit agreement with an eight-bank syndicate and managed over 150 physician investors. She currently serves as the Trustee for the Liquidating Trust of the company.
Before Neighbors, Ms. Axton was the Chief Operating Officer of Pinnacle Medical Partners, LLC, a roll-up of troubled multi-disciplinary physician practices in Denver, Colorado. As COO, she worked closely with the practices to improve cash flows by cutting DSOs in half and developing a shared services organization to achieve cost synergies. Her leadership of the shared services organization included consolidating EHR and billing systems into a single practice management system, maximizing efficiency and performance of the revenue cycle. She also led the onboarding of practices joining the network, including due diligence, IT assessment, system conversion and personnel transitions.
Ms. Axton’s other operational experience includes serving as Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of a bank holding company, where she raised private equity capital, created and implemented business plans approved by the OCC and FDIC, and managed the bank’s investments portfolio. She also served as Vice President of Finance of a publicly-traded manufacturing and distribution company where she managed the SEC reporting, investor relations and due diligence and integration of multiple acquisitions.
As a financial advisor, Ms. Axton was a Transaction Services Partner at KPMG for eight years, where she performed diligence on over 200 companies in the U.S. and globally and led two financial integration projects of multi-billion dollar public companies. During her tenure, she led the Transaction Services Practices in Denver and Silicon Valley and served as the Office Managing Partner for the Denver office of over 400 employees.
Ms. Axton’s restructuring experience includes assessing financial and operational plans and implementing immediate and actionable performance improvement initiatives, developing 13 week cash forecasting, managing communication with multiple stakeholders (lenders, counsel, equity holders, board, buyers, employees) and completing section 363 asset sales to multiple buyers. She has also developed plans of reorganization, testified in bankruptcy court and served as Liquidating Trustee.
