Cory Fritz

Cory Fritz is a former Press Secretary to a Speaker of the House and a top aide to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. At FTI Consulting, Mr. Fritz is a leader of the Public Affairs practice's Trade and National Security offering, which supports clients across sectors facing political, regulatory and legal scrutiny on cross-border matters.

During his time with the U.S. Congress, Mr. Fritz helped build communications strategies to successfully pass Trade Promotion Authority, and ratify trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia. As a member of House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce's senior staff, he also played a key role in crafting policy, strategy and messaging on issues of committee jurisdiction, including sanctions, international law, export and licensing policy for munitions, technology, and dual-use items, and foreign investment. During Cory's time at the committee, it played a key role in securing passage of the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act of 2018 (FIRRMA) that reformed the export control process and provided significant new authorities to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CIFUS).

Previously, Cory served six years as a spokesman to Speaker of the House John Boehner. Cory held several roles over this period, including Press Secretary to the White House Press Corps and Political Communications Director, where he helped led message development and coalition building efforts for the Speaker on trans-Pacific and trans-Atlantic trade matters, and worked daily with top reporters and producers at outlets including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, New York Times, Associated Press, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX News and more.

Cory got his start working as Speechwriter and Assistant Press Secretary for Senator George Voinovich, a member of the Foreign Relations and Appropriations Committees. He lives in Washington, D.C. and earned his degree with honors from Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
