Joe Knight

Joe Knight is a Senior Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment and is based in Washington, DC. He has experience developing flexible damage models for litigation consulting engagements, implementing business intelligence and reporting solutions, and data mining.

Mr. Knight has worked on engagements which involved developing and implementing data warehouse, business intelligence and reporting solutions for healthcare companies. He has experience performing detailed reviews of client systems and process, as well as building SQL scripts and procedures to summarize complex and disparate data into meaningful metrics.

Mr. Knight has specific experience developing web based business intelligence and reporting solutions that leverage Tableau products and focus on clinical operations, patient and case management, financial reporting, entity structure and employee statistics. He used SQL and Tableau to develop analyses related to patient acuity, employee compensation, revenue concentration, payer and program profitability. These analyses were used by executives for strategic planning initiatives, budgeting efforts, and entity restructuring.

Mr. Knight also has experience in litigation consulting engagements related to healthcare claims and diagnostic laboratories. He has assisted in managing large and complex data sets from multiple billing and claims systems using SQL. He assisted in the consolidation, normalization and analysis of these complex data system to develop flexible damages models which could be modified based upon the legal foundations provided by counsel.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting in August 2010, Mr. Knight worked for four years in Ernst & Young’s Advisory Services practice based in McLean, VA. Mr. Knight performed external audits of IT general controls for client’s financially significant systems in conjunction with Sarbanes-Oxley 404, and in support of Financial Statement Audit Opinions. In addition, Mr. Knight utilized Computer Assisted Audit Techniques (CAAT) and data analytics to perform procedures in relation to SAS 99 - Consideration of Fraud in a Financial Statement Audit.

Mr. Knight's specific experience includes performing journal entry, financial statement consolidation, and AP/AR sub-ledger CAAT procedures using Audit Command Language (ACL), SQL, and Visual Basic. Mr. Knight has performed SAP ERP security audits and has knowledge of SAP application controls, IMG configuration management, transport management, and Virsa Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tools. He also performed risk-based security audits of infrastructure components supporting business systems and processes. Specific infrastructure experience includes Oracle DB, SQL Server, UNIX, and Windows platforms.

Mr. Knight holds a B.B.A in Computer Information systems from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He is a member of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
