William J. Mellon

Bill Mellon is a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, Global Insurance Services, based in Wayne, PA. Mr. Mellon has more than 30 years of experience providing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) services to a variety of organizations across industries including professional services, transportation, construction, engineering. Insurance and financial services. His experience includes nearly 10 years with international accounting and consulting firms providing GRC services to client organizations.

Mr. Mellon services include external and internal audit; risk assessment and management; fraud risk assessment; enterprise risk management; forensic accounting; Sarbanes-Oxley compliance; information technology security and IT general controls (ITGC) review; and business process analysis and reengineering.

Mr. Mellon has extensive experience creating and managing internal audit departments, analyzing risk areas, and preparing and executing audit plans. He has served as the Chief Audit Executive for numerous clients and has worked with senior management and audit committees to ensure that assurance key risks are identified and addressed. Additionally, he has served on client risk committees and assisted in the implementation of risk management practices.

Mr. Mellon has designed tools and methods for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal audit, fraud risk assessment and enterprise risk management (ERM). He regularly assists clients in identifying key financial/operational control issues, resulting in improvement to business processes and governance structures. He has conducted fraud investigations aimed at determining the genesis and the extent of the fraud, as well as providing internal control recommendations to reduce the possibility of any recurrence.

Mr. Mellon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from LaSalle University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and is a board member of the Society of Financial Management (SIFM). He is also certified by the IIA to provide Risk Management Assurance services (CRMA). He is a frequent presenter on internal audit, risk management and governance practices and procedures.
